The Eye of Ra / Horus symbol has been used since antiquity to signify the Pineal Gland.
From my knowledge the Third Eye and the Pineal Gland are very different things and are not interchangeable.
The Third Eye of Horus / Ra is a modified version that plays more on the dualism and triplicity of our existence.
This image includes dualistic symbols such as the Sun and Moon, Yin and Yang, Black and White. It also includes symbolism
alluding to our dualistic world that is embedded within a larger trinary reality.
The central pupil that resembles a camera lens is a reference to the direct plagiarization / Inspiration of the spiritual aspects of our bodies into the physical world.
The Pine cone obviously symbolizes an activated Pineal Gland.
The undecipherable text is a reference to ineffable experiences and ancient words of power and manifestation that our ancestors liked so much to play with.
The Tri-force and triangular symbols all refer to the Trinary nature of the self (Good / Bad / Neutral) as opposed to the classical dualistic interpretation of reality.
The balanced cross is the Alchemical symbol for "Earth" and of course the four elements.
